THE FIRM

Jumo, Mashoko & Partners was founded in May, 1995 and has been in existence since then.  It is a legal services provider and operates from the premises known as 54 Seventh Street, Gweru, but also serving clients from other areas in Zimbabwe.

The firm is managed by the two (2) founding senior partners who have been in practice for the past thirty (30) years.

QUALITY ASSURANCE

Our practice is regulated by the Law Society of Zimbabwe. We subject ourselves to voluntary spot-checks by the Law Society of Zimbabwe. Our practitioners regularly attend Continuous Professional Development Training(CPD) to keep abreast with the dynamics in practice. The partners are registered Administrators of Deceased Estates which is regulated by Estates Administration Council.

We have weekly round table discussions, and internal peer review of matters being handled by each legal practitioner.

THE REGULATOR / LEGISLATION

The firm is registered and regulated by the Law Society of Zimbabwe, which is the licensing authority,  in terms of the Legal Practitioners’ Act [Chapter 27:07], and the Regulations and By Laws promulgated under the Act.  The Act, the Regulations and the By Laws prescribe the minimum standards and requirements under which the legal practice must be carried out.  Non compliance with the minimum standards and requirements results in disciplinary action against the legal practitioners by the Law Society of Zimbabwe.

The firm is also required to comply with other statutory requirements including tax legislation, compulsory national insurance, and mandatory employer contributions administered by the Zimbabwe Revenue Authority, the National Social Security Authority and the Zimbabwe Manpower Development Fund, respectively.

As regards non legal compliance issues, the firm is required to render competent, efficient and quality professional service to its clientele, as well as to avoid harm to third parties.

FEE STRUCTURE AND ACCOUNTING SYSTEM

The firm’s charges are regulated by both the Ministry of Justice, Legal and Parliamentary Affairs and the Law Society of Zimbabwe.  In keeping with the Law Society By – Laws, the firm accounts to its clients on a regular basis, and its accounts are audited annually by a firm of professional external auditors.
